How our intern programme is helping students step onto the career ladder

So far over 30 students have benefitted from our Intern programme which covers a range of STEM disciplines including IT, geology and environmental protection, as well as administration and community relations.

The popular 8 week paid programme ran every summer prior to the onset of the Covid-19 pandemic and provides practical experience of working in the exploration and mining sector.

Almost 8% of our employees started their career with us as an intern, and Courtney is one of them. She works for Dalradian full time as part of our environmental team and has advanced her skills and moved up the career ladder since joining the team.

Baseline Studies

The environmental team is the second largest in the company with five staff currently employed. Together they manage our environmental monitoring programme, which feeds into Dalradian’s baseline studies. These baseline studies are completed to ensure a continuous picture is built up of seasonal changes within the local area.

The team work all year round in all weather conditions, performing extensive monitoring of dust, air quality, noise, river and ground water levels as well as surface and ground water quality monitoring. The team visit 130 different environmental monitoring points and take measurements along a 30 kilometre river network as part of the baseline studies.

Work is carried out using independent accredited laboratories and established methodologies and protocols.
