Job Purpose

In this role, the successful candidate will be part of the frontline operations team at the mine site.  It will require working in all weather conditions, carrying out a range of tasks, to ensure the essential function of the wastewater treatment plant.  The WTPO will work within the environmental team and collaboration with other departments, such as technical services, mining, milling facility and safety, will be required.

The work will be carried out in compliance with environmental and safety regulations.  The main purpose is to provide support to environmental operations by overseeing the good operation of the water treatment plant and ensuring water quality at the discharge point at all times as well as housekeeping. 

Staff employed within these areas will report to the Environmental Manager.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Operation of the onsite Water Treatment Plant:

  • Overseeing the successful operation of the water treatment plant through operation, inspections, control and follow-up.

  • Fault-finding and problem-solving skills are essential to respond to breakdowns.

  • Equipment calibration & compliance testing.

  • Assisting with the development of an operator's manual.

  • Maintenance tasks - unblocking pumps, screens, and valves to ensure continuous plant operation.

  • Monitoring, collating, and reporting of data to ensure statutory and regulatory compliance.

  • Ensuring a high standard of housekeeping at the facility and maintaining discharge water quality at all times in compliance with legislation.  

  • Any other duties that are required in relation to the execution of environmental requirements of the company.

  • Comfortable working outdoors, potentially in all weather conditions.

  • Adaptable, flexible, patient, reliable and self-motivated.

  • Good with time management

  • Confident to work effectively and efficiently on your own.

  • Keen to learn and operate complex processes with high-quality controls.

  • Candidates from the following industries, including but not limited to, construction, quarrying, trucking and farming, are all encouraged to apply.

Competencies

  • Ability to complete work reports on both paper and computer-based systems.

  • Ability to communicate with team members and supervisor.

  • Ability to learn software programs.
