Job Purpose
The mill operative will oversee the operation and maintenance of the mill plant. Typical job duties will be to operate the mill circuits and oversee the rock material through the grinding process to discharge at the end of the milling process. Mill operators are skilled employees who will operate a variety of power tools, such as drill press and basic hand tools while performing regular maintenance and troubleshooting on the milling machines. Maintenance of production records and inventory will also be required. Mill operators will also be required to attend production and safety meetings, when requested.
Duties and Responsibilities
Follow all company policies and safety/environmental regulations.
Perform clean-up and housekeeping to ensure a safe, clean, and productive work area.
Completion of all work area and equipment inspections (pre-start checks).
Monitor equipment and systems to ensure proper operation.
Monitor material crushing, screening, grinding, flotation, and filter press.
The miller will work on a 12-hour shift rotation.
Replacement of worn parts.
Load and milling performance recording.
Personal Requirements
Similar job experience such as aggregates, production, or manufacturing is a plus.
Experience working in a labour-intensive position.
Ability to follow instructions.
Ability to work in a team environment.
Willingness to learn.
Good understanding of machinery.
Proficiency with hand tools.
Education to a minimum of GCSE or equivalent
Minimum of 1-3 years experience in roles that include operation of equipment.
Competencies
Ability to complete work reports.
Ability to communicate with team members and supervisors.
