Health & Safety Coordinator

Job Purpose

This is a functional role for a Health & Safety Co-ordinator to provide all aspects of health and safety support at the mine site. The role will engage with other Dalradian team members in all departments of the mine but will be independent of other departments, reporting to the Health and Safety Manager.

Duties and Responsibilities

• Provision of up-to-date and appropriate health and safety inductions to all new employees.

• Assistance and participation in the development of risk assessments, safe operating procedures, safety inspections, task observations and other related documentation, for all departments.

• Conducting inspections to determine and improve the level of compliance with health and safety regulations.

• Management or assistance in investigations of incidents at the mine site.

• Development of appropriate data and statistics related to health and safety for engagement with stakeholders on the site.

• Management/participation in safety meetings across the site.

• Liaising with employee-appointed safety representatives.

• Initiation or engagement in campaigns for health and safety topics at the site.

• Engagement with external inspectors and regulators, as required.

Personal Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree or diploma in a health and safety-related discipline.

• More than 2 years of experience in a health and safety role, in an industrial or regulatory setting, preferably related to the extractive industry.

• Ability to communicate with all personnel and to be independent.

• Ability to coach and mentor.

• Working knowledge of word processing, spreadsheets, and other relevant software.

• Technical and report writing skills.

Competencies

• Ability to complete work reports on both paper and computer-based systems.

• Ability to communicate with team members and supervisor to build a strong health and safety culture.
