During 2015 and 2016, work on site was focused on the underground exploration program, including more than 50,000 metres of infill drilling, which was completed in February 2016. An updated Mineral Resource Statement based on more than 130,000 metres of infill drilling was released on May 5, 2016, which showed a 109% increase in Measured & Indicated ounces. The Underground Program is designed to support a feasibility study and submission of a planning application by the end of Q4 2016.
The Underground Program extended the exploration tunnel by approximately 960 metres, and included three test stopes.
The Underground Program was designed to:
- demonstrate continuity of thickness and grade of mineralized veins;
- increase confidence in the existing mineral resources;
- assess underground geotechnical and hydro-geological conditions;
- produce samples for offsite metallurgical testing; and
- test mining methods.
